One Can Turn, Walk Through, Or Walk Around Many Of The Works Of Art Created By Gego (1912–1994), So That Their Composition Seems To Be Constantly Changing. Filigree And Minimal, So Light That They Almost Seem To Dance, Her Grid Sculptures Either Hang On The Wall Or Are Positioned Freely In Space. Born In Hamburg, The Venezuelan Artist Created Her Three-Dimensional Installations Out Of Wire, Ropes, Or Aluminum Bars, And Sometimes Used Objets Trouvés Such As Clothes Hangers Or Metal Springs. Influenced By Her Education—Before Emigrating In 1939, Gertrud Goldschmidt Studied Architecture At The Technische Hochschule (Technical University) In Stuttgart With Paul Bonatz—Constructing Structures And Shaping Space Were Also Of Great Importance To Gego’S Art, In Which The Line Was A Major Theme.

This Publication Provides Insight Into The Artist’S Drawings And Sculptural Work, And It Is The First To Shed Light On How Gego’S Period Of Study In Stuttgart Influenced Her Oeuvre.
